STMHS Wall of Pride!

Everyone has a Story...
A story of pride, a story of commitment, a story of challenges, a story of dedication....

STMHS has the most remarkable students and we thought what better way to tell about them than with a Wall of Pride. Our series Everyone has a Story will now include stories of pride, stories of commitment, stories of challenges, stories of dedication and much more, displayed as the STMHS Wall of Pride. We will be adding to this all year so be sure to check back periodically.

burnettA story of citizenship:
John Burnett, a Senior at STMHS, attended the 77th Annual American Legion Boys State Program this summer.  Approximately 217 outstanding juniors from high schools across the State of Connecticut met at Eastern Connecticut State University to become part of the operation of local, country and state government.  At Boys State, participants learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of franchised citizens.  The training centers on the structure of city, country and state governments operated by students elected to various offices.  Boys State activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses and recreational programs.  John was a very active participant and contributor to the program.  He was elected to the office of Comptroller of Connecticut Boys State.

Diaz, Adriana photoA Story of Community Service

Adriana Diaz, a senior at STMHS. She is one of the 2017 Martin Luther King Recipient. Along with education being a priority in her life, being involved with the community is just as important. From being the Youth leader of Oasis of Restoration church, to the Assistant Director of the New London Youth Talent Show; gives me the opportunity to experience diversity in many perspectives. As Adriana moves onto college she is planning to become a sociologist to study interactions between different cultures and life beyond her community. We look forward to seeing the difference Adriana will make in many lives.
