Students Recognized as UCONN Avery Point Marine Scholars!

Four Science & Technology Magnet High School students were selected as Avery Point 's 2016 Marine Scholars:

·       Brynn Doughty
·       Sylvia Guijarro-Sines
·       Moli Michel
·       Chloe Sherman-Watson

Through this program, our students will have the opportunity to strengthen their interest in Marine Science or Marine Studies by interacting with marine scientists and other experts in the field, as well as being involved in their own marine research.   In addition, our 2015 Marine Scholars Katherine Ashbey and Aiden Hurley were congratulated for successfully completing the program.

Special to this program, students will tour the campus; participate in variety, of Coastal Perspective lectures.  
Antony Adler, Ph.D., Visiting Research Fellow, and Harvard Kennedy School of Government led the first presentation of the series “Race to the Bottom: The Forgotten Quest to Conquer and Colonize the Seafloor, 1960 - 1975”.

Through the student’s participation, they will become eligible to apply to a variety of scholarships and special programs. 

This recognition is a tremendous honor and opportunity for our students.  Congratulations all!
